(en) Brazil, CAB: SOLIDARITY WITH THE KAINGANG FAMILIES OF FEPAGRO IN SANTA MARIA-RS (ca, de, fr, it, pt, tr)[machine translation]

Date Wed, 3 Dec 2025 08:45:13 +0200

We, from the Brazilian Anarchist Coordination, express our deepest solidarity with the indigenous retaking of the area of the former Fepagro, in the municipality of Santa Maria (RS). We know that this retaking means much more than the simple conquest of land: it is the affirmation of a right to exist as an original people, to rebuild community ways of life, to preserve ancestral knowledge and to fight against the destruction of life by capital. ---- The Kaingang families arrived at the former Fepagro in July 2025, coming from municipalities affected by the 2024 floods and in vulnerable conditions, to claim a dignified place to live and exist. The Ven Ga community settled there, with about twelve families who now occupy part of the area in the former Fepagro.

On the night of October 26th, the families in struggle suffered an attack, an act of violence aimed at intimidating and expelling the Kaingang people from the area. This attack reflects racist violence and continues a project of ethnocide, with genocidal intent, that has been attempting to eliminate Indigenous peoples for five centuries, since the colonial invasion. The families awoke to an attempted break-in and flames spreading near the shed where they live with their children and elders. Belongings such as sofas, tarpaulins, and the car used by the families were set on fire.

Despite attempts to erase the original existence of this invaded and plundered continent, the Kaingang people, like all Indigenous peoples in Brazil and throughout the world, are a beacon of hope and an example of direct action, patience, and willingness to fight. It is from them that we must learn to fight for the liberation of the land, against state repression and the devastating fury of capital.

We at CAB stand in solidarity with Ven Ga's retaking of the land in their struggle for land and freedom, and we see in the indigenous struggle an essential pillar of resistance against the State and capitalism, of social struggle, and of the construction of popular power.

The occupation of the former Fepagro site by the Kaingang is not just a local claim: it is a radical intervention in the territory contrary to the logic of the commodification of life, of expropriation, and of the invisibility of the original peoples.

Whoever is against the struggle of the original peoples is our enemy.

NOT ANOTHER DROP OF INDIGENOUS BLOOD!

BRAZIL, INDIGENOUS LAND!
