(en) France, CNT-AIT: 80 Years! (ca, de, fr, it, pt, tr)[machine translation]

The CNT-AIT, the French section of the International Workingmen's Association, is 80 years old. While the Confederation was formally created in December 1946 at a congress in Paris, the first CNT-AIT union to be officially registered was the one in Toulouse, established on July 22, 1946.[Excerpt from the statutes of the first CNT-AIT union]However, the presence of anarcho-syndicalism in France in general, and in Toulouse in particular, has a much longer history. This is evidenced in the CNT-AIT's Toulouse premises by the library cabinet of the masons' union, which dates back to the first Toulouse labor exchange in 1892.

Formed from a regrouping of pre-war CGTSR-AIT veterans, migrant refugees who had fled the fascist dictatorships of Franco in Spain and Bulgaria, as well as young people who had participated in the Resistance but were not satisfied with the return to normalcy, the CNT-AIT carried the hopes of a social and libertarian revolution.

Despite the vicissitudes of its turbulent history, the CNT-AIT-through the will and actions of its members and sympathizers-continues its journey, participating in the universal human emancipation movement, spreading anarcho-syndicalism through ideas and action.
