The G7 will take place in Évian from June 15 to 17, 2026. This group
promises only to strengthen the interests of the capitalist bourgeoisie
through predatory imperialist projects. The Libertarian Communist Union
will be present on June 14 at the demonstration organized in Annemasse
to denounce the hypocrisy of these exploitative and increasingly
authoritarian governments, to the detriment of the people, and to
reiterate the urgent need for a revolutionary alternative! --- This
year, France is hosting the "Group of 7" in Évian. From June 15 to 17,
2026, Macron and his counterparts will meet to discuss "renewing
international partnerships and solidarity, as well as reducing global
macroeconomic imbalances." This is further confirmation, if any were
needed, that climate issues have well and truly disappeared from the
minds of world leaders.
However, a few weeks ago, at the end of April, the "G7 Environment"
summit was held, where the environment ministers of this same group met.
The topics of discussion? Numerous, but climate change was absent. After
all, who cares about climate change in 2026? Certainly not Trump, the
chief climate change denier, who declared that discussions about fossil
fuels were a red line for his visit to Évian. It is therefore to appease
the orange-clad man, and the capitalist interests he represents, that
the other nations concerned said nothing, did nothing.
The contentious issues
This red line regarding fossil fuels obviously didn't come out of
nowhere. If anyone dares to propose reducing the use of oil, coal, or
gas, the MAGA galaxy erupts in outrage and rejects all arguments
outright. It's no surprise when you remember that, barely in power,
Trump announced the withdrawal of the United States from the Paris
Agreement, dismissed climate scientists in his country, and dismantled a
whole host of laws protecting the environment, including protected areas
that sheltered the coveted oil.
Nevertheless, it must be acknowledged that most international
politicians, often more inclined towards greenwashing than climate
skepticism, criticize the American regime for its stances. So why not
stand up for themselves and confront Trump?
At this point, it's worth reiterating an obvious point: our leaders,
whether elected or at the helm of corporations, are driven by class
interests and seek only to maintain or strengthen their power. We must
then ask ourselves what the capitalist bourgeoisie's interest is in
wanting to break with Trump and, therefore, with one of the largest
economic powers of the moment. The answer is simple: none. In reality,
it suits them to hide behind a supposed need to be allied with the
United States. And beyond the greenwashing of speeches and statements by
business leaders, the very few, barely binding measures established by
the Paris Agreement prevent them from raking in ever-greater margins and
profits at our expense. The same was true a few years ago with the
tech-bros and their progressive veneer, which they quickly stripped away
to align themselves with misogyny, racism, transphobia, and against
everything they label "wokist" as soon as the MAGA circles returned to
power. The interests of the bourgeoisie will never be aligned with ours.
The links between the far right and capital are undeniable, and it is
their alliance that allows authoritarian governments to come to power.
This is the case with the complicity of the major media and
communications bosses (Stérin, Bolloré...). But also with the return of
borders to the limits of Europe, the walls of shame between Israel and
Palestine, the increase in the size and actions of the ICE militia under
Trump, and the rise in the number of detention centers to imprison
migrants who have managed to survive the deadly crossings of seas and
oceans to flee tyrannical and authoritarian countries and see their
lives change and improve.
Capitalist policies go hand in hand with colonialist and imperialist
policies, pursuing wars in several global theaters (on the African
continent, in the Middle East, in Ukraine, in Palestine, in Kurdistan,
etc.), sowing the death of innocent people and seizing land in a logic
of subjugating entire populations. This is particularly the case in
Palestine, where more and more settlements are being established in the
West Bank by Israel with the approval and arming of the United States,
despite the UN ban. The complicity of Western states allows for the
trampling of international law and the right of peoples to
self-determination.

Let's turn the tables!
Everyone knows, sees, and feels it: climate change is already here, and
living conditions on Earth are not improving. The gap between the
richest and the rest of the world is widening. But don't worry, because
to counter this bad news, goals are proudly proclaimed. The UN even has
17 "sustainable development" goals, known and signed by its members
since 2017. In reality, you don't need to read the reports to realize
that this is not enough to address the crisis we are facing.
Take Goal 6, which concerns access to and management of safe drinking
water for all. Do we really think we will have achieved it within four
years? 2.1 billion people lack access to safe drinking water.
Approximately 106 million people drink surface water, which is
untreated. Meanwhile, data centers are proliferating and will soon
consume 1.2 trillion liters of water per year (for construction, the
electricity needed for operation, and server cooling). All this for the
race for Artificial Intelligence. A frantic race toward a vague
objective, but one that appeals to investors and suits authoritarian
policies to increase social and security control over the masses,
produce disinformation and narratives, and strengthen the
military-industrial complex.
Faced with this reactionary international, libertarian communists cannot
remain indifferent. That is why it is important to organize collectively
to promote our alternative vision to these deadly projects of a handful
of leaders who want to impose their vision of the future of our lives.
Our project of anti-authoritarian self-management, individual and
collective freedoms, is stronger than their predicted nightmare. That's
why the Libertarian Communist Union will be present in Annemasse at the
demonstration on June 14, 2026, called by the NOG7 collective, so that
this world finally changes its paradigm and peace and freedom become the
order of the day!
