Hyundai Boycott Begins October 25!!!

The Han Young maquiladora (assembly plant for export), which is a feeder factory for the Hyundai tractor trailer factory near Tijuana, has now fired a total of at least 14 workers and shows every intention of firing every one of the pro-union workers at the factory. Eight pro-union workers were fired prior to the October 5 union certification election and at least 6 more have been fired since then.

This is an emergency situation!!!

The Support Committee for Maquiladora Workers has called for a boycott of Hyundai Motors, to begin on Saturday, October 25. Please prepare for leafleting on that date.

If you are planning a leafleting action on the October 25 national day of action or thereafter, PLEASE contact the Suport Committee for Maquiladora workers at (619) 542-0826 or scmw@juno.com to alert them of your plans and to request the action packet which they are preparing.

The October 25 national day of action is the opening of an ongoing boycott of Hyundai Motors. This boycott will contiue until Hyundai directs its contractor, Han Young, to cease its illegal firings, to reinstate the illegally fired workers and to cease blocking the efforts of the workers to obtain certification of the union of their choice: STIMAHCS.

URGENT!!! Your supportive action is requested. URGENT!!!

Please also consider organizing a press conference to occur at or prior to your leafleting action.

See earlier alerts for background information on this struggle.
