(en) Greece, APO, Land & freedom: On the murderous parastatal attack by ARAS on the grounds of the Polytechnic University (ca, de, it, pt, tr)[machine translation]

On November 15, the first day of the three-day commemoration for the
52nd anniversary of the Polytechnic University uprising of 1973, early
in the morning, approximately 200 helmeted ARAS members with a
military-style organization lined up in the courtyard of the Polytechnic
University and launched a blind, furious, bloody and murderous attack
against anarchists. ---- After first opening heads and breaking arms
outside, the thugs continued inside the Tositsa building, breaking and
hitting everything they found in their path, where they trapped dozens
of people, workers, students, and anarchists. Among them were members of
the Anarchist Students' Initiative of Athens and APO who were at that
time preparing the area on the ground floor of the building for the
placement of political material and in view of the afternoon's planned
event.
Indicative elements of the brutality of the pogrom unleashed by the ARAS
gang were both their imposition, through terrorism, on the entire area
of the Polytechnic University and the unlimited exercise of
thoughtless violence that could even result in deaths. This is
demonstrated by the confinement of a large number of people in a closed
space, their chasing down stairs and corridors, the uncontrollable and
repeated blows to the heads, arms and other vital organs, the undressing
of a comrade, the threats and the real risk of people falling from the
windows of the building. The results were approximately 20 injured
people with broken heads, hands, fingers, the opening of a police case
with charges of alleged fighting and the filing of charges against
injured people who had been transported to Evangelismos and the
inevitable and absolute provocation of the three-day commemoration
events as a whole.
The planning, organization and implementation of this attack by the ARAS
thugs not only had the typical characteristics of a parastatal action
but also the targeting of such an attack. This military-style
enforcement operation cannot but be articulated with the overall attack
of state repression both in the university areas, where it manifests
itself in disciplinary actions, expulsions, persecutions, surveillance
cameras and the targeting and attempted expulsion of radical, militant
and anarchist projects from the asylum area, as well as more broadly in
social and class struggles and the ongoing ideological and repressive
attack against anarchists.
ARAS is beyond any doubt a foreign body to the student and overall
social and class struggles, and must be treated as such. The
organizations that collaborate with it must isolate it, otherwise they
will cover up its fifth-falange and murderous action.
In the face of the failed, long-standing effort of the state to bury the
real meanings and contents of the 1973 Polytechnic uprising, the current
repressive methods of the rectorate authorities, the continuous and
ever-expanding state terrorism, the self-organized, collective struggles
of society and youth are not suppressed. The anarchist movement does not
retreat - does not submit. The struggle against every authority
continues and will win.
