The appeal brought by the appellate prosecutor's office against the 
acquittal of the mother of the 12-year-old from Colonos for the crime of 
pimping, however expected based on her cynicism of authority and her 
contempt for a decision reached by a majority of the jury (while the 
regular judges were drafted with the vulgar prosecutorial proposal), 
remains infuriating. ---- This appeal constitutes a hostage for the 
mother, but also for the 12-year-old girl herself and the rest of her 
siblings. After all they suffered for having the courage to denounce the 
trafficking ring, the rapists and their institutional protectors 
(resulting in the mother being locked up and the child separated from 
his family at a time when he needed support more than ever,) today they 
prevent them from healing their wounds, deny them the possibility to 
live their lives as they dream and as they deserve, as they won it with 
their struggle. At the same time that the rapists (except Michos and 
Christoforos) whom the child identified were simply convicted as 
"customers", received probation and are moving around the family's 
neighborhood, the prosecutors continue to terrorize the victims, with 
new trials and new threats imprisonment.
On a second level, the appeal is made to vindicate the state 
police-judicial apparatus in the face of the social outcry raised by the 
prosecutor's proposal and the acquittal of the ring (since neither 
Michos nor anyone else was convicted of human trafficking, while they 
were not even found in the position of the accused, key members of the 
ring, connected to the Greek police mafia, to the brothels and hotels 
where the girl was raped and also involved in the Ilioupoli case). The 
appeal therefore comes to retroactively legitimize all the hitherto 
unacceptable manipulations, the imprisonment of the mother who 
complained while the police were indifferent, the intimidation of the 
child who spoke and identified the rapists, and above all it comes to 
remove from the frame again the circuit which is washed away 
systematically by the authorities, insisting on the construction that 
"there is no circuit - the mother is to blame"). This opens the way for 
even Michos to "fall into trouble" afterwards, while he was convicted of 
pimping in the first instance.
And finally, this move aims to drown out any sense that solidarity has 
won and that our struggles have the power to overturn state designs. We 
do not forget that both the construction of the mother's guilt and the 
prosecutor's proposed exemption of Mihos from the charges of rape and 
pimping, were broken thanks to the dynamic mobilizations that took place 
and culminated after the prosecutor's proposal, thanks to the expression 
of social anger and of solidarity with the 12-year-old girl and the 
mother, thanks to the voices that came together saying that they are not 
alone and that the state is washing away the rapists.
The message of this appeal, therefore, concerns us all. No complacency, 
no trust in the state of rapists and murderers! Justice will be decided 
in the streets.
