This March 20, Les Républicains published their report on trans minors. 
This was led by Jacqueline Eustache-Brinio, who opposed the 
constitutionalization of abortion as well as the ban on conversion 
therapy targeting trans people. ---- Promoting dangerous measures for 
suffering young people, this report marks an attempt at a strong 
comeback of the "Manif pour tous", and is part of a retrograde strategy 
of conservative and far-right circles at the 'international.
A trans person is a person who feels the need to transition, that is to 
say, to appear socially in a gender other than that of their birth. This 
need can be more or less strong: when it is not resolved, it can lead to 
depression and suicide. The trans population is particularly prone to 
mental suffering: 80% experience depression, 1 in 5 people have already 
attempted suicide. These figures are mainly due to transphobia in 
society: family and friendship breakdowns, discrimination, attacks, 
refusal of access to care. The transition often involves a medical 
aspect, mainly via hormonal therapy.

Minors, who depend on the acceptance of their parents for any 
administrative or medical procedure, are particularly subject to these 
problems. However, for a trans minor, puberty is a traumatic and 
irreversible transition. This is why solutions exist: puberty blockers. 
These are well-known medications with mild side effects that help delay 
the effects of puberty. They have long been administered to block 
precocious puberty in children. Blockers save precious time for trans 
minors, preventing them from a dreaded transformation of their bodies 
while they think. If the person confirms that they are trans - which 
happens in the majority of cases - they can begin hormonal treatment 
which will allow them to experience puberty as desired and thus reduce 
the risk of depression and discrimination. Otherwise, the blockers are 
reversible: simply stop the treatment for puberty to continue as normal.

These are the essential treatments that the LGBTIphobic right is now 
attacking, attempting to create a moral panic by twisting reality. For 
this, it relies on pseudo-scientific studies which have been repeatedly 
disavowed and contradicted.

This is not an isolated event. In the United States, transphobia has 
been the spearhead of the evangelical far right for several years. 
Opposed to abortion and even contraception, she defends a vision of the 
world where woman is the slave of man by nature, and hopes to see this 
vision implemented thanks to a new Trump presidency in November 2024. 
Hundreds of Laws passed in conservative states today make life 
impossible for the trans population, well beyond the single issue of 
minors which is only a gateway. This movement is linked to similar 
environments in many countries, for example in Russia where LGBTI 
organizations are now banned. In France, it is the circles of the Manif 
pour tous and the far-right which relay these deadly theses, and LR's 
attack against trans minors is the starting point. Contrary to the 
fantasies propagated by the right, access to care for trans people, both 
minors and adults, is still an obstacle course. We demand their real 
depsychiatrization and appropriate training for doctors.
