(en) Germany, LIKOS: Demo for SubstAnZ on February 24th, 2023 (ca, de, it, pt, tr)[machine translation]

Date Mon, 11 Mar 2024 09:17:23 +0200

Joint speech by the libertarian communists Osnabrück (LIKOS) and No Lager at the demonstration "Osnabrück needs SubstAnZ" on February 24th, 2024. ---- Hi, we are from No Lager and Likos and are one of the groups that organize themselves in substance. And it's been that way for quite a while. For the people who don't know us that well: No Lager, meaning us and many others, is a local, anti-racist association. We are organizing together against the racist present in Germany, Europe and beyond. That means against deportations, camp accommodation, racist laws like the Dublin Regulation, against exclusion and exploitation. To stand up for each other, we use visible and invisible forms of protest and resistance. In our work we base our work on the problems we experience in everyday life. We classify these experiences politically and defend ourselves against them.

At our meetings, people come together in very different situations and with very different backgrounds. We meet every Thursday for this in the substance. Sometimes it starts in the afternoon to plan the demo/information stand/campaign, exchange skills or paint new banners before the big plenary session. From 6 p.m. we invite you to our open anti-deportation café every week. Everyone is invited to discuss problems, support each other, develop strategies, receive legal and emotional support and find solutions. The other part of the group enjoys the formidable, always fresh vegan Thursday menu that our friends from the Küfa group conjured up.[Cheers!]At 7 p.m. sharp[wink]we plop down on the sofas in the large plenary room. And then there is plenary. We talk about upcoming events and actions, exchange ideas about the latest news, argue, discuss, get angry at all the shit that's happening, that's being passed, decided, pushed through and ignored, mad at the state, the cops and the deportation authorities, and sometimes we feel powerless these, rebuild ourselves, drink tea and fool around. At the end of the evening there is beer or spritzer down in the pub and of course we unload and load the dishwasher.

The substance is also open to us on all the other days: We meet again in these and those groups, we organize or attend lectures, workshops or celebrate wild parties in order to top up our solidarity fund (either with or without karaoke). You can see - hopefully we conveyed this believably - we feel right at home in SubstAnZ. It should stay that way and we would like to continue to invite people to this place. We want to continue to organize ourselves here together, get to know each other, help each other and network. We want to continue to do politics from the bottom left in these spaces. We want to experience many more parties, events, readings, workshops, short and long meetings and meals here. We won't let our substance be taken away from us! We want to stay and we will stay!!! And certainly the people of Likos too.

Hello, we are the Libertarian Communists Osnabrück (Likos) and we also need the SubstAnZ. We have been around for eight years now - it is doubtful that we would have been around for that long without SubstAnZ, because without left-wing spaces it is hardly possible to get a left-wing organization off the ground. Our political work is both theory and practice and both depend on the SubstAnZ existing.

We are convinced that it is important for left-wing politics to explain what you want to change and abolish socially, why society is the way it is and what a different society could look like. In our case, for example, this means a materialistic, anti-authoritarian approach to issues such as racism, sexism and anti-Semitism. We would like to emphasize that, in addition to practice, continuous theoretical work also needs collective spaces. You can read a book alone, but explaining and discussing the content together, supporting each other in understanding, can only be done together.

Fighting against making a false peace with social conditions is much more pleasant and thoughtful when people come together for this purpose instead of isolating themselves in their political filter bubbles. Educational events in the form of lectures, workshops, etc. that deal with uncomfortable topics and do not exclude people per se are unthinkable without spaces like SubstAnZ. Neither an online lecture nor a lecture at the university can replace that. The time of the corona pandemic has made this more than clear. At political lectures, at parties, at bars, in fact everything is always about us on the left coming together, arguing, being a corrective to each other.

And for our practice? Of course we need space for this. Without SubstAnZ there is no place to plan demonstrations, no place to paint banners, no storage space, no place to do solidarity work, discuss flyers together, etc. Or to give current concrete examples: We are currently part of the anti-fascist participation campaign " "Taking away space from the right." This has been making life difficult for the AfD in Osnabrück for over six months. They have lost their place to meet and no standLuchar contra una falsa paz with las condiciones sociales es mucho más placentero y reflexivo cuando las personas se reúnen con este propósito en lugar de aislarse en sus burbujas de filtro politico. Los eventos educativos en forma de conferences, talleres, etc. que aborden temas incómodos y no excluyan a las personas per se son impensables sin espacios como SubstAnZ. There is no conference on the line or there is a conference at the University of Pueden reemplazar eso. The era of the pandemic of coronavirus is more clear. In the conferences of politics, in the fiestas, in the cash, in the hecho, they are involved in the nosotros, the events, no reunification, discussion, no corrijamos and other people.

It has been several months since the life of the AfD in Osnabrück is difficult. Perdieron su lugar de reunion y ningún stood in the center of the city quedó sin a contraprotesta. The final result is on the street with more than 2,000 people at 27 de enero bajo elma "Todos juntos contra el fascismo". A campaña como ésta es impensable sin SubstAnZ. In concrete terms, it is significant that the anti-fascist movement and the lucha against the AfD have been debilitated in Osnabrück and SubstAnZ does not exist, and this is a moment in which the past is included in the final moments of the race Alemania is a problem!

¡La sustancia permanece! in the city center remained without counter-protest. We were last on the streets with over 2,000 people on January 27th under the motto "All together against fascism". A campaign like this is unthinkable without SubstAnZ. In concrete terms, this means anti-fascist work and the fight against the AfD will be weakened in Osnabrück if there is no SubstAnZ - and this at a time when it seems that even the last few people have realized that the shift to the right in Germany is a problem!

The extra-parliamentary left in particular, whether No Lager, us, the climate movement or Antifa campaigns, need left-wing spaces! We need them as elementary infrastructure. And we won't let them be taken away from us. Let's take to the streets together in the coming months.

SubstAnZ remains!
