Documentary synopsis:

MARGALIDA

In 1975, the singer-songwriter Joan Isaac composed his best-known song, "A Margalida." It is a song that talks about a woman who disappeared because when she was twenty-one she lost her love. He was the young anarchist Salvador Puig Antich, the last condemned to death by garrote in Franco's Spain.

Margalida Bover now lives in Capdepera, in Mallorca. She is retired and lives alone, in an apartment by the sea. She loves to read, take long walks and hang out with her friends. One day, she receives a call from a writer from Barcelona who invites her to attend a tribute to Puig Antich. Forty-five years later, Margalida decides to relive that story.

After missing for a long time, she is prepared to face the ghosts of the past and close the wounds that have always accompanied her. As a catharsis, she sets out to take a physical and emotional journey to a time and a world that no longer belongs to her.

This past world is made present through many conversations and the recovered letters that her lover wrote to her from prison before dying. Likewise, Margalida follows her path and places us in a current moment where not everything has changed.

Direction, script and production: Constanza Amengual and Francesca Mas

"Margalida" is a production of Noviembre Films
