investigation department at StreetPress. ---- At the end of the year, 
the Street¬Press media launched its campaign calling for donations to 
finance the work of its journalists. To date, nearly 185,000 euros have 
been raised, notably with the announcement of a participatory survey on 
small far-right groups. ---- Can you quickly present your media? ---- 
StreetPress is an independent online investigative media, based in 
Île-de-France, which is celebrating its 14th anniversary this year! Our 
team affirms its commitments against the extreme right, racism, police 
violence or in favor of undocumented people for example. We carry out 
investigations on these subjects but also other investigations and 
testimonies on many social issues.

Why did you decide to launch this participatory survey?

With the help of our readers and supporters, we want to conduct the 
largest investigation ever carried out on the far right and its radical 
groups. According to our estimates, in addition to far-right parties 
like the RN which are present throughout the country, there are nearly 
150 groups active in France. They form a dense militant network and can 
attack people out of racism or because they do not adhere to their 
rancid vision of France. Recent events such as the racist raid of 80 
activists from the four corners of France in Romans-sur-Isère at the end 
of November confirm our desire to investigate these groups.

Are you particularly interested in certain far-right groups?

Those that interest us are obviously those about which we have little 
information. We know the groups in Paris or certain cities like Lyon, 
Marseille, Rennes well, but there are smaller ones, around ten activists 
(but around ten is enough to beat people up and traumatize them) who 
pass under our control. radars because we cannot be everywhere. There 
are around ten journalists in our editorial team.

Do you think that this investigation could have concrete effects on the 
far right (beyond information work)?

We believe that we must continue, in fact, to investigate this part of 
the radical far right because on a local scale we can also show the 
links that these small violent groups have with parties and 
organizations that claim to be more respectable. In summary: show that 
demonization is only an illusion. We have already published an 
investigation into the dozens of radicals who continue to work within 
the RN or in its pockets, but unfortunately this investigation found 
little echo in the mass media and did not put much emphasis on the RN in 
a difficult position.
