This is an urgent request: please don't do your laundry quite
yet.
If any of you are like us, you have bags full of clothes that
stink of tear gas from this weekend, whether you were strolling
through the parks of Quebec City or fighting with the kops.
Our Crime Minister, Mr. Jean Cretin, has been nearly falling over
himself to praise the kops for their "restraint" in brutalizing
us for three days straight. Apparently he somehow managed to
not smell all the tear gas, or hear of the beatings or plastic
bullets or water cannons using water mixed with pepper spray.
So we thought we'd let him know.
If you have garments that still reek, keep them in garbage bags
and ziplocs. If you've already washed, at least try to remember
which ones you wore in QC. Same with any disposable masks or
bandanas (in fact, especially masks and bandanas). Keep them
around for May 21st when we're going to be airing out Kanada's
dirty laundry all over the country.
More is to come, but basically right now we're looking at
putting up shitloads of clotheslines hung with contaminated
clothes at Parliament Hill, and any other government buildings
across the country and Kanadian consulates elsewhere in the
hemisphere for people who can't make it to Ottawa.
Obviously there is also lots of other "diverse" (to coin a now
infamous phrase, wink wink nudge nudge) stuff we can do but we
thought the clotheslines would be a good starting point and
look pretty damn cool to boot.
Why May 21st? It's the anniversary of April 21st, the second day
of protests. The 20th would have been nice since the fence first
came down then, but since May 21st is Victoria Day (a monarchist
holiday in Kanada), we thought it was too perfect.
So aside from saving the dirty laundry, we also need people to
help plan, or just give radical ideas for actions. anyone
interested in helping with planning, brainstorming via email,
or organizations or collectives who want to endorse, email us at
victoria_coughing@altavista.com ...
more information will certainly follow over the next short while.
