(en) France, UCL: Unitary appeal, March 8, 2024: faced with attacks from the government, the right and extreme right, women everywhere are resisting! Feminist strike! (ca, de, fr, it, pt, tr)[machine translation]

We call for a strike on work, domestic tasks, consumption. Because only
our voices, our cries, our visible actions will be able to move society
and power to finally obtain equality. ---- We call for a strike for
work, domestic tasks, consumption. Because only our voices, our cries,
our visible actions will be able to move society and power to finally
obtain equality. ---- Solidarity with women around the world! ---- On
March 8, we will be on strike in solidarity with our ----- sisters
facing the wars raging around the world.
In solidarity with those who face massive bombings, exodus, are victims
of war rape, struggle to feed their families and themselves.
In solidarity with all those who fiercely defend themselves to regain
their freedom and their rights.
NO to reaction, NO to the extreme right
Far-right ideas which advocate hatred of others, racism, misogyny,
LGBTQIAphobia, are enjoying electoral success all over the world and are
becoming commonplace. In France, the government and the right are taking
over.
The immigration law passed last December is an example. Even if a third
of the provisions, such as those establishing national preference, were
invalidated by the Constitutional Council, this racist law attacks the
right to asylum and all undocumented immigrants.
We demand the repeal of the immigration law and the regularization
of all undocumented immigrants.
We want to live and not survive!
Wage inequalities, low wages and now inflation are degrading living
conditions. Women represent 62% of people paid the minimum wage and 70%
of food bank beneficiaries. More than 9 million people live below the
poverty line. 300,000 people including 3,000 children live on the
streets. Some die from it.
We demand an increase in wages, the revaluation of social minimums,
the massive construction of social housing.
Decent work and wages
Women, particularly single mothers, are particularly impacted by the
high cost of living, they hold poorly paid jobs, are often affected by
job insecurity and imposed part-time work and receive a salary on
average Πlower than that of men. Women, whose pensions are 40% lower
than those of men, are even more impacted by the latest reform.
We demand the repeal of Macron's pension reform, laws that penalize
the unemployed and RSA beneficiaries. We are calling for the revaluation
of feminized professions (education, care, cleaning, etc.), equal pay, a
ban on imposed part-time work, the transformation of fixed-term
contracts into permanent contracts. We want retirement at 60 with 37.5
annuities.
Public services serving our needs
Liberal ideology aims to break up and privatize public services:
hospitals, schools, EHPADs, housing. It is women who compensate for this
deficiency with children as well as the elderly and the sick, to the
detriment of their career, their financial autonomy, their health.
They assume the vast majority of domestic and child-rearing tasks. They
carry a mental load forcing them to constantly have to plan everything.
March 8, 2024: faced with attacks from the government, the right and
extreme right, women everywhere are resisting!
We want quality public services and are calling for the creation of
public services for early childhood and loss of autonomy. We want time
to live, an equal sharing of tasks, a reduction in working hours for
everyone.
Our body belongs to us
The right to abortion is a fundamental right
We demand the reopening of all closed voluntary termination of pregnancy
centers. We want to enshrine the right to abortion in the Constitution
in a truly protective manner.
Macron calls for a "demographic rearmament", with Pétainist and
pronatalist overtones, as if the desire to have a child depended on
political injunction and is preparing for us a birth leave while
pointing the finger at "failing" parents.
LGBTQIA, we want to be able to make our life choices, to freely live our
sexual orientation, our identities.
Disabled, we suffer all the violence. We are deprived of our rights to
autonomy, education, employment, care, and procreation. We want our
economic independence, universal accessibility to all public spaces and
to all places and buildings.
Stop sexist and sexual violence
#MeToo is everywhere, in all walks of life. Impunity persists, 1% of
rapes are convicted. Macron allows himself to support Depardieu,
indicted for rape and thus vouches for an entire pattern of oppression.
Obstetric and gynecological violence (OVG) is systemic and goes
unpunished. 9% of women say they are victims of brutality in healthcare
according to the High Council for Equality. The latter emphasizes the
persistence of sexism among the youngest.
When 56% of victims of sexual violence are minors and 160,000 child
victims per year, Macron decapitates the Independent Commission on
Incest and Sexual Violence Against Children and silences the 30,000
testimonies collected.
While France will host the Olympic and Paralympic Games this summer, we
are calling for concrete actions to be put in place to combat all
gender-based and sexual violence, protect victims and combat
prostitution and pimping networks.
We want to restore the CIIVISE to its original purpose and follow
its recommendations. We are demanding three billion to fight against
violence, the application of existing laws, the passing of a framework
law against male violence against women, children and gender minorities.
Educating for equality, a major issue
Education for equality must allow children to understand the mechanisms
of domination operating in our society.
We want non-sexist education, the effective implementation of education
in emotional and sexual life which integrates the notions of desire and
pleasure, education in consent and equality.
On March 8, we will be on strike against the patriarchy and this
government. We will show the fundamental role of women in society: when
women stop, everything stops. March 8: feminist strike! All in the
street in demonstration!
