(en) Brazil, UAF: Activity Report - "Free Book" Project (ca, de, it, pt, tr)[machine translation]

Date Sat, 15 Aug 2026 08:54:34 +0300

Presentation ---- The Free Book Project is an initiative of the Federalist Anarchist Union (UAF) and the Capixaba Anarchist Federation (FACA) to encourage reading and disseminate anarchist culture, developed in the territory dominated by the state of Espírito Santo, in the city of Cachoeiro de Itapemirim. Its main objective is to broaden the population's access to books, promoting the sharing of knowledge, the formation of new readers, and the strengthening of education through the free circulation of literary, educational, and, above all, anarchist works.

Development of Activities

During the last six months, the project maintained its activities in a continuous and organized manner. The exchange point remained available to the community, allowing anyone to leave a book and take another for free, encouraging collaborative economy, access to reading, and mutual support.

A growing participation of the population was observed, with frequent book exchanges carried out by students, teachers, families, and other residents of the region. Community involvement demonstrates recognition of the project's importance as a tool for promoting libertarian education and culture.

Alongside public participation, we maintained a commitment to supplying the project weekly. Constant replenishment of the collection with books, fanzines, and pamphlets was carried out, ensuring a diversity of titles and good conditions for use. In addition, informational pamphlets were distributed to publicize the initiative and broaden the project's reach among the population.

Observed Results

Throughout the semester, the following results stand out:

Active and continuous community participation in book exchanges;
Weekly renewal of the collection through the addition of new materials;
Regular distribution of informational and awareness pamphlets;
Greater visibility of the project in the city where it is located;
Strengthening of the anarchist culture of reading and knowledge sharing;
Encouragement of book reuse and free access to information.

Final Considerations

The results obtained in the last six months demonstrate that the Free Book Project has been fulfilling its social purpose of encouraging reading and expanding access to knowledge about anarchism. The constant participation of the population, combined with the weekly replenishment carried out by the UAF-FACA team, has guaranteed the continuity and strengthening of the initiative.

The expectation for the coming months is to further expand the available collection, strengthen the dissemination of the project, and reach an ever-increasing number of participants, consolidating this action as an important tool for promoting anarchism.
