Macron's latest attack on workers: making bakery and florist employees

The government and employers have three objectives:

the Pétain regime, May 1st was a day of international struggle for the
eight-hour workday. A day of strikes, demonstrations, and uprisings,
with its share of repression and shootings, its share of worker and
union martyrs, including in France. That is what they want to eradicate
once and for all.
The issue, therefore, is not so much about preserving a day of rest that
sometimes allows for a long weekend, but rather about restoring May
Day's political power for the working class. For our side, this means
building strong unions, capable of maintaining a balance of power with
capital, and creating a May Day that is not merely a date of
commemoration but one that reclaims its central role in the struggle.
More than our celebration, May 1st, 2026 must sound for us like the
starting signal, not to keep what we have won, but to win new things.
On May 1st , let's take to the streets ! Starting the very next day,
let's organize !
