(en) Italy, FAI, Umanita Nova #12-26 - Blocking the perfidious game of domination. Cospito out of Article 41 bis. Against all detention, from prison to hotspots (ca, de, it, pt, tr)[machine translation]
Date

The government's games have begun to extend Alfredo Cospito's stay under
Article 41 bis. An ANSA press release dated April 10, citing ministry
sources, states that this is the decision "following verification of the
prisoner's persistent ability to maintain contacts with criminal or
terrorist organizations." Evidence of Cospito's ability to maintain
these contacts is provided by the protests in his favor: the
demonstrations calling for the end of Article 41 bis become evidence for
the prosecution.
Cospito is a leader, this is the prosecution's thesis. It doesn't matter
that he declares himself an anarchist, that he rejects any form of
hierarchy, that the existence of any form of organization has not been
proven; it is the protests in his favor, once imprisoned and subjected
to the 41 bis regime, that prove he is a leader. It's a shame that this
"evidence" is coming to light after the conviction.
Something similar happened in the case of the 91 people who, on March
29, in Rome, wanted to remember Sara Ardizzone and Alessandro
Mercogliano, found dead in a dilapidated farmhouse. They were placed
under preventive detention, as required by the latest security decree,
for the first time. The fact that these people gathered anyway, after
the police ban, demonstrates their danger to civil and democratic
coexistence.
Thus, in Cospito's case, his 41-bis conviction was triggered by his role
as leader, and his role as leader is demonstrated by the demonstrations
in his favor, which took place after his conviction. Likewise, the
dangerousness of the people detained in Rome is demonstrated by their
failure to comply with the ban, a failure that occurred after the ban
itself.
We are faced with examples of predictive policing, in which the cause
and effect relationship is completely reversed.
But there's more. The justification given for banning the commemoration
of Ardizzone and Mercoglianonamely, "anarchism's ideological inclination
against the established order"clearly shows that for institutions, the
ideological target to be targeted, beyond individuals, is anarchism itself.
Governors and their servants know full well that a society based on the
domination of a small circle of privileged individuals over the great
mass of humanity is increasingly shaky, which is why they want to
silence those who have no faith in the government.
The bill announced by the League, not yet filed, according to its
author, "will ban anarchist associations and extremist militant
antagonistic groups."
Thus, the circle is closed: anarchism is accused of endangering peaceful
coexistence, the response to repression is used as a pretext, and a law
is passed to outlaw the anarchist movement.
Those in power should not delude themselves into thinking they can delay
the moment of reckoning by silencing anarchism and thereby resolve the
myriad contradictions that plague their regime.
The anarchist movement does not passively accept the arrogance of those
in political power. We will continue to be present in the many social
struggles that daily demonstrate the intolerance and desire to turn the
page in the face of an increasingly oppressive power that breeds
exploitation, war, and poverty. We will continue to fight against every
prison and every form of detention, from prison to migrant hotspots. We
will fight against Article 41 bis and for the freedom of Cospito. We
will continue to fight for our freedom to organize and propagate our
ideas, to fight for the freedom of all.
