(en) France, UCL Press Release - Die Platform - Midada - Solidarity with the Kurdish Resistance: Against Violence, Against Silence, Against Impunity (ca, de, fr, it, pt, tr)[machine translation]

Date Tue, 10 Feb 2026 08:02:07 +0200

Gathered in Paris on January 10 for the Justice and Truth march organized by the Kurdish movement, UCL and two of its sister organizations, Die Platform (Germany) and Midada (Switzerland), jointly express their support for the Kurdish resistance. ---- Thirteen years after the assassination of Fidan Dogan, Sakîne Cansiz, and Leyla Saylemez. ---- Four years after the attack against Emine Kara, Mîr Perwer, and Abdulrahman Kizil. ---- As anarchist organizations from Switzerland (Midada), Germany (Die Plattform), and France (UCL), we stood alongside the Kurdish movement on January 10, 2026, in Paris for truth, justice, and freedom for the Kurdish people.

On January 9, 2013, Kurdish activists Sakîne Cansiz (Sara), Fidan Dogan (Rojbîn), and Leyla Saylemez (Ronahî) were assassinated in the Paris offices of the Kurdistan Information Center. They were killed by multiple gunshots to the head. The perpetrator, Ömer Güney, was linked to the fascist Grey Wolves, and some evidence suggests he was acting on behalf of the Turkish National Intelligence Organization (MIT). To date, the French justice system has not fully solved this case, while refusing to classify it as a terrorist attack.

On December 23, 2022, the Ahmet-Kaya Kurdish cultural center, located in the 10th arrondissement of Paris, was attacked by a gunman. Three people-Emine Kara, Mîr Perwer, and Abdulrahman Kizil-were killed, and three others were seriously wounded. The perpetrator had previously made racist and nationalist remarks and was classified as a right-wing extremist. Here again, the question remains open as to whether he acted alone or if instigators from the Turkish sphere of influence were involved. Both attacks were politically motivated. Both targeted the Kurdish liberation movement, particularly its women. Neither has been recognized as a terrorist attack by the French government. Both remain unpunished.

The violence against the Kurdish liberation movement in Paris is not a coincidence. It is political. It is terrorist. It is part of a strategy originating in Ankara, supported by the Grey Wolves, and often condoned by European states.

Every year in January, the Kurdish liberation movement takes to the streets of Paris. Not only to commemorate, but also to demand: truth. Justice. And above all: the release of the intelligence service files on the murders, so that the truth can finally be revealed and justice served.

Because to this day, the French justice system has still not determined who was behind the 2013 murders. And it refuses to classify the 2022 attack as a terrorist act, even though it specifically targeted women and activists fighting for freedom, democracy, and women's liberation.

The Kurdish revolution is a women's revolution. "Jin Jiyan Azadî"-woman, life, freedom-is not a slogan. It is a program. A program that is perceived as a threat by the assassins of the Turkish state and its fascist allies and is therefore targeted. With weapons. With systematic violence. With silence.

The Grey Wolves do not only operate in Turkey; they are also present in Berlin, Basel, Strasbourg, Brussels, and Paris. They strike when they think no one will stop them. We say: no. We stand in solidarity with the Kurdish communities. With the women. With the revolutionaries. January 10, 2026 - in the streets. For truth. For justice. For the freedom of the Kurdish people.

Bijî berxwedana gelê kurd! Long live the resistance of the Kurdish people! Jin Jiyan Azadî! Die Plattform, Midada, and the Libertarian Communist Union, January 10, 2026.
