I am Fire Woman's eldest daughter, Wild Flower. I write this letter to straighten out some misinformation concerning the events a Plymouth. First Fire Woman and Grandfather Oak were not arrested or injured. Very shook up but not physically injured. Fire Woman did have a tac-a-cardia attack in the police station while they were waiting to get people out. She's OK.
Starting at the beginning. Everyone was gathered at the monument. Lots of police around everyone. They left the monument heading down the street as a group. They were told they couldn't be on the street. There were some words, not many, about permits. There were a couple of arrests. Everyone moved to the sidewalk with the intention of dispursing. They started down the sidewalk. Fire Woman was josseled onto the street by the number of people crowed onto the sidewalk. Sammy was arrested when he stepped off the sidewalk to pull her back onto the sidewalk. They were blocked. They could not proceed down the sidewalk. They turned and tried to get back to the monument.
That's when all hell broke loose. The police attacked.
Fire Woman was pulled out of the melee by a companion when the woman beside her was grabbed. Yes, attacked is the right word. Grandfather Oak was taken to the social, at what point I don't know.
Fire Woman marched in the Viet Nam era Washington Mall peace march. In her estimation the viciousness (and that's ledgendary) of the Washington police didn't hold a candle to the police in Plymouth. Think about the implications of that observation.
The women and children were in the front to show peaceful intent. I guess Plymouth police didn't get it. Among the people pepper gassed were 2 eight year old boys. At least one elder woman was taken to the hospital. I have no further information on her at this time.
Of 25 arrests only 24 names were available in the court records. Is the 25th the woman in the hospital? Eighteen were charged with disorderly conduct and unlawful assembly. Four more had assault and battery added to their charges. (I think that is when the police grab you by the hair and slam you into another person being arrested. When you touch the police you assault.) Two others were charged with disorderly conduct, unlawful assembly, and violating anti-noise by laws.
Watch out you kids in Plymouth. If you yell too loud while playing, you might violate the by laws.
That's the short story. Many more details are available, but that's enough for now.
END FORWARD
