DEMO VILLAINS RETURN TO THE MUSEUM TONIGHT AT 10:00 PM
After successfully erecting a second tent site at the Museum of MISanthropology last night, some of us are still holding out there, amongst an army of uniformed aliens. Tonight at 10:00pm more of us will move over to the site and enjoy the stars from the backyard of the museum. "Freedom's Outpost" is an effort to reclaim space on our campus to voice our opposition to the APEC agenda.
The only problem with Freedom's Outpost is that it's a very busy place. Security is constantly patrolling the area, and many helicopters are continually circling the site. The normally quiet Museum has been turned into a noisy circus. This is ironic because just recently students were refused permission to hold a "Rock against APEC" concert, even after the booking had been formally confirmed. The concert which was sponsored by Citr, the UBC student radio station, was scheduled to take place this evening. Unfortunately it was cancelled by the administration at short notice because of concerns about noise levels.
Leading up to the "Teach In/Speak Out," on Monday and the "Crash the Summit," on Tuesday, APEC-Alert will be engaging in further actions, throughout the weekend, to maker clear, yet again, their total opposition to APEC and everything it represents.
We encourage and appreciate any support.
