ANTI-DEATH PENALTY PROTEST THURSDAY OCTOBER 16th 4-6pm US EMBASSY, BALLSBRIDGE, DUBLIN 4 (busses: 7, 7a, 8, 45)

A J Bannister is to be executed on Wednesday next in Potosi Prison, Missouri. All legal avenues have been exhausted and now only worldwide protest can save his life. Dublin is doing its bit with a protest tommorow, which has been called by the Socialist Party and is supported by people from the Workers Solidarity Movement, Green Party, and others.

Kent Gibson, Bannister's current lawyer, has complained that the original lawyer was incompetant and never presented key evidence at the trial. The US legal pocess did not allow this evidence to be introduced at the appeal stage (but only dealt with the conduct of the court on the basis of the evidence presented at that time).

International protests, which Dublin and Belfast participated in, won a stay of execution for the journalist and ex-Black Panther Munia Abu-Jamal and increased the chances of winning his liberty. If enough people in enough countries join protests against the state murder of Bannister we may save his life. Please tell others about this protest.
