At VAPCA on Tuesday, November 11th, we want to once again examine the
issues of prison and punishment. Privatized and profit-oriented prisons
are becoming increasingly widespread worldwide. But even in state
prisons, forced labor prevails - with wages of only a few euros per
hour. Punishment and the so-called prison-industrial complex are
therefore crucial structures for maintaining capitalist domination, and
their role (among others) must always be considered from the perspective
of capitalist instability.
For the state, the 'administrator' of capitalist domination and the
punitive authority, community-based concepts that do not aim at
imprisonment and forced labor but rather at reaching agreements between
conflicting parties and restoring or changing the initial conditions are
therefore dangerous.
On November 11th, we want to watch a film about one of these concepts
together and discuss it critically. How do different concepts differ?
How did they originate, and what are their limitations?
We also want to write postcards to the prisoners and take a solidarity
photo for the start of Zaid's trial in Paris.
