Education, as a social good, has for decades been the target of a series of restructurings aimed at its complete state control on the one hand and its profitable exploitation by Capital on the other. ---- The State's targeting is twofold. First, universities are not simply adapting to the needs of business interests, but should themselves be transformed into businesses that will operate according to the laws of the markets. In the "rationalized" university, education should simply be a tool for economic "development", which will constitute a vestibule of the labor market, producing the specialized executives it needs. At the same time, the institution of the university itself should be at the behest of the State and Capital, with the work and research it produces not serving the needs of society or even vaguely "science", but the interests exclusively of themselves. Thus, laboratories and researchers must dedicate resources and forces to produce the research work of private companies and state institutions. Especially in our time when science and its application to technology have an upgraded role, it is necessary to put them at the service of state planning and repression, with the complex of war industries having been integrated into the research plans of universities, both on a practical level and institutionally.
In this context, special mention should be made of the cooperation of Greek universities with the state of Israel, which is part of the broader effort to strengthen the relationship between the Greek state and the Israeli one, in the name of geostrategic plans and the "national interest". Thus, from the National University of Athens, the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the National Technical University of Thessaloniki, to the University of Patras, the National Academy of Sciences and the University of Thessaloniki, a series of institutions have from time to time collaborated or participated in research programs jointly with Israeli universities and institutions, as well as with war industries such as Intracom. The second main aspect of the educational restructuring aims at the complete political sterilization of the university, with it completely stripping itself of the social characteristics that it had incorporated over time. More specifically, the university asylum, through its social character, has become both a field of political activism and expression for broader social groups that have found fertile ground within it, and a base for struggles that have targeted the very world of the State and capitalism. Through its abolition and the attempt to delegitimize it, the State wants to achieve a more comprehensive blow to the movements, thus wanting to intercept any prospect of overthrowing the established order of things. The new disciplinary measures that have been announced and voted on are also moving in this direction, which essentially criminalize political activity and collectivization within the faculties, threatening even with permanent expulsion those who fall into this "misdemeanor".
For our part, as anarchists, students, we must make our goal clear. We defend education primarily as a social good, a good that should be born, developed and returned to society itself. Amid the establishment of the first private universities and the escalation of repression to unprecedented proportions, our struggle should not aim at a mere state or private university, nor at some union demands, but rather fight for a new type of education that can only exist within a new type of society: a libertarian education in a libertarian society. Through our intervention in schools and student associations, we can propose the unmediated struggle and define its scope, against the bureaucratic logic of the dominant forces of the left, connecting it with broader social parts, so that it opens a path for broader demands that include the whole of everyday life and the natural world. Setting the goals of a student movement that will be truly unguarded, dangerous, and revolutionary.

NEITHER STATE, NEITHER PRIVATE - FORWARD FOR A FREE EDUCATION

NEITHER DISCIPLINARY, NEITHER EXPULSIONS - SCHOOLS SHOULD BECOME FOCUSES OF STRUGGLE
