https://craam.noblogs.org/ ---- Against SIDO and its world! ---- A look
back at the actions against the 2025 Internet of Things Show in Lyon
---- Wednesday, September 17, in the morning, at the Cité Internationale
de Lyon Convention Center. ---- A good twenty individuals from several
cities (Lyon, Grenoble, Saint-Étienne, Mâcon, etc.), responding to the
call of several groups (Écran Total Lyon, Stop 5G Lyon, Grothendieck
Group (Grenoble), Regional Anti-Arms and Militarism Coordination,
Anarchist Federation Lyon, Stop Micro (Grenoble), Technopolice Lyon,
Stop Arming Israel Lyon) are speaking out. For the third year, armed
with placards, leaflets, banners, flags, slogans, and chants, they
denounced the holding of the Internet of Things Show (SIDO), the
"leading" trade show for digital technology and its world.
B2B (business-to-business) professionals, their ties, fitted suits, and
win-win plans, were greeted with speeches, improvised chants, and a host
of serious and humorous slogans, including the following:
"Water, not fleas! STMicro SIDO, accomplice!"
In Ukraine, as in Palestine, STMicro is murdering! SIDO, accomplice!
5G, 6G, AI, SIDO wants to kill us!
Augmented human, diminished humanity! Augmented human, robotic humanity!
Better unemployed than startupper! Better unemployed than engineer!
With AI, with STMicro and SIDO, AI no more water, AI no more nothing!
Lithium, coltan, it's child slavery, it's the ravages of our Earth!
Who wants the mine, prepares for war! Who prepares for war, wants the mine!
This rally was the culmination of a series of actions carried out in
September in Lyon:
Distribution of the leaflet "Always less for public services, always
more for Tech & war! Come and protest SIDO with us" during the September
10 rally in Lyon,
Public meeting on September 13 called by the Regional Coordination
Against Armaments and Militarism (CRAAM), Écran Total Lyon, Stop Arming
Israel Lyon, and the Stop 5G Coordination.
Around forty people came to listen and interact with the speakers:
Stop Micro, which is fighting against the doubling of
STMicroelectronics' production capacity in Grenoble, its pollution, and
the digital hell that is being created;
The Observatoire des Armements and Stop Arming on the current and
profitable (economically and technologically) Franco-Israeli military
cooperation;
CRAAM with two presentations, one on AI and its concrete consequences in
public services, the other on Smart Cities, which are the realms of
global surveillance on a daily basis. A back-to-school drink hosted by
Marco and his acerbic and poetic songs concluded the evening.
This series of activities was part of the call "Why do we support the
defendants of June 15, 2021?"» published on June 29 by supporters of
those accused of June 15, 2021. This text calls for "a de-escalation of
imposed digitalization and... to open spaces in which it is possible to
publicly criticize digital technology. We also call for organizing to
resist digitalization. To this end, let's join the protests at digital
technology showcases:
- SIDO (Internet of Things Exhibition) in Lyon on September 17, 2025
- SIM (Mineral Industry Exhibition) in Orléans from October 15 to 17, 2025
- Tech&Fest in Grenoble on February 4 and 5, 2026
- Vivatech in Paris from June 17 to 20, 2026.

Reminder on June 15, 2021
On June 15, 2021, anti-terrorism crackdowns (SDAT, GIGN, PSIG) targeted
several people in Limousin suspected of starting fires to protest the
deployment of the Linky meter, then 5G. The charges are: destruction and
damage to property by explosives or fire committed by an organized gang
(Enedis vehicles, TDF and Orange antennas), harm to the fundamental
interests of the nation (military antenna), criminal conspiracy, and the
creation of an inscription, sign, or drawing resulting in only minor damage.
The penalties, depending on the charges, range from 5 to 20 years'
imprisonment and a fine of EUR75,000 to EUR225,000.
The trial is pending and will likely take place in 2026.
