At the end of July, the Ministry of the Armed Forces announced that a 
"militarized" version of the JDC (Defense and Citizenship Day) would be 
implemented starting in the fall. This propaganda day, already 
militaristic, imperialist, and mandatory for young people aged 16 to 25, 
was supplemented by a new program. Laser target shooting, strategy 
games, a military meal, raising the colors, and singing the 
Marseillaise... All this in a half-day. More engaging activities 
replaced the rather boring and unpopular propaganda speeches among young 
people, with the aim of making the army more attractive.

While French imperialism was losing ground and preparing for war, the 
army sought to extend its influence over young people. We saw this with 
the promotion of the National Service of National Education (SNU) (now 
temporarily abandoned), but also with the increase in military 
interventions in high schools and recreation centers. In the Var region, 
the LR mayor of Saint-Raphaël asserted that "patriotism can be learned" 
to justify the introduction of the flag-raising requirement for children.

In a context of endless tightening of the school system, our training 
facilities, access to higher education, increasingly unfair selection, 
and difficulties finding employment... the state is now seeking to 
impose on young people the idea of the possibility of work and security 
by joining the army.

This indoctrination strategy serves only one purpose: to mold the youth 
of our social class, to conform them, and to make them appreciate the 
army in order to train the cannon fodder of tomorrow. "We Europeans must 
now ensure our own security," Macron declared last January.

We know that we will be the first to be sent to the front. As in all 
wars, it is always the proletarians who die: we must be the first to 
oppose it, against French imperialism and its desire for war!

As young revolutionaries, our role is to block the war machine that is 
being established with the increased recruitment of youth and the march 
toward a war economy initiated by Bayrou's austerity plan.

The Libertarian Communist Union firmly opposes the JDC, as well as all 
the tools of control used by the bourgeoisie. The time has come for 
direct action by the world of work and youth. Let us organize ourselves 
in our places of study, work, and life to build a great anti-imperialist 
and anti-militarist movement!

No peace between classes, no war between peoples! Against war, through 
revolution! Unity, action, self-management!
