(en) Russia, Avtonom: Modern libertarian theories and practices: section at the "Vectors" conference (ca, de, it, pt, tr)[machine translation]

Date Sat, 4 May 2024 07:58:22 +0300

On April 18, the international conference "Vectors" will be held in Shaninka (Gazetny Lane, 3-5. 1) in Moscow. The conference will have a section "Modern libertarian theories and practices." ---- Thematic blocks: ---- * Education. The opening speaker is Maria Rachmaninova. This block collects reports on libertarian pedagogy; about educational issues from the standpoint of anarchism and criticism of hierarchies; on the interaction of anarchist initiatives with educational institutions (universities, schools).
* Infrastructure. The opening speakers are the team of the COMPOST cooperative. The block is dedicated to infrastructural, urban, economic and technological solutions - in a libertarian vein. Here you will be able to hear (and talk!) about the technologies of decentralized self-government (DAO organizations), the real experience of cooperatives, free price stores, communes, co-livings - and the anarchist philosophy of technology.

* Expanding anarchist thought. Opening speaker - Pyotr Ryabov. The block is dedicated to enriching anarchist theory by crossing it with various philosophical concepts and modern cultural movements, as well as rethinking established concepts and schools of thought in a libertarian vein: for example, identity politics, existentialism, (anti) Malthusianism. Here we will talk about anarchist epistemologies.

* Libertarian arts. The opening speaker is Alexander Migursky (EGALITÉ project). Science fiction, poetry, cinema, video games-and their intersections with libertarianism-are the focus of this block. Issues of anarchist aesthetics, art practices and artistic reinterpretation of discourses about anarchism in modern media will be addressed.

* Anthropology and sociality. Here we will discuss human relationships; formation, dynamics and practices of social groups. What leads to the emergence of hierarchy at the interpersonal and social level - and what helps to maintain more libertarian, free, horizontal or akratic forms of interaction? One of the speakers will talk about how activists in Polynesia managed to build a coalition for collective action that took into account the cultural characteristics of ethnic groups.

* Off-topic block. This block will contain reports that are not currently included in groups by topic, but are no less worthy of attention than others. For example, reports on local political participation or experience of conflict mediation initiatives.
