(en) Germany, LIKOS: Political Prisoners Day (ca, de, it, pt, tr)[machine translation]

We would like to use today, "Political Prisoners Day", to express our
solidarity with the people who have been dragged to court and are behind
bars because of their consistent commitment to an anti-fascist,
climate-just and classless future. ----- Activists who denounce the
existing conditions and fight against them are being imprisoned all over
the world. It is unacceptable that fascists walk through our streets and
that they become spaces of fear for queer, non-white or poor people.
This is a fundamental component and consensus of left-wing radical
politics. The same applies to the fight against the progressive
destruction of our planet. The same applies to the fight against
patriarchy. The same applies - to put it briefly - to the fight against
the state, nation and capital. These battles must be fought consistently
and with the necessary means. They are legitimate and necessary.
It is not surprising that this leads, for example, to conflicts with
"Orbán's Hungary" and the ruling Fidesz, which would rather lock up
anti-fascists for many years instead of stopping Nazi folklore and
historical revisionism in its capital - which had to be stopped.
Ultimately, our focus here is on a nationalist government and a state
that is becoming increasingly authoritarian.
But we don't even have to look abroad. The German state is also
increasingly subjecting the left-wing movement to repression. In a
lengthy trial, Lina E. and other anti-fascists were sentenced to prison
sentences of several years. The evidence was thin, particularly for the
offense of "criminal organization", and the verdict was based on
circumstantial evidence.
And to draw a link to Budapest again: there, in the aftermath of the
so-called "Day of Honor" in 2023, arrested anti-fascists (from Hungary,
Italy or Germany) are sitting in prison under inhumane conditions.
Hungarian and German authorities are trying to outdo each other in their
investigative zeal. Statements from those imprisoned in Hungary, which
could never have been obtained according to constitutional standards and
which can be explained by the violent everyday life in prison and the
miserable conditions, are also being tried by the German judiciary to
use to fantasize about left-wing structures or networks in this country
to brand "criminal organizations" and to be able to act more
aggressively against the left-wing movement. (It's not that this
surprises us or that we can or want to trust in this rule of law, it's
just that Germany is too happy to claim this rule of law.) This is how
connections to Lina E. are constructed, for example - it's probably
supposed to be an "all-round blow". be taken out... As part of a broad
search, Maja was arrested in Berlin at the beginning of the year. Maja
suffered cuts during the attack and has been in custody ever since and
is threatened with extradition to Hungary. Maya is non-binary. In
addition to long-term imprisonment, this would represent another danger
for Maja in the Hungarian prisons. This does not seem to be a problem
for the German state and its judiciary.
This small glimpse alone is enough to make clear the importance and
necessity of our solidarity with political prisoners in Germany and
every other country. Regardless of the substantive focus on the
processes in and around Budapest, our solidarity also extends to
comrades worldwide, e.g. in Belarus or Iran (to name just a few
countries where the situation is currently acute).
Let's put our solidarity into practice. Let's write letters to our
comrades to break through everyday prison life. Let us be present in
their processes and show them that they are not alone. Let's not leave
them stuck with the costs of procedures, lawyers, etc. and let's donate.
Let's not let ourselves be divided.
IT HIT INDIVIDUALS, IT MEANS ALL OF US!
DOWN WITH THE PRISONS, DOWN WITH YOUR CLASS JUSTICE!
