Friends:
I have received overwhelming support for the idea of a caravan of people
from throuhout the Americas holding actions from San Diego to Seattle.
Everyone seems to think the idea will build the tension and the attention
as the actions increase in intensity and numbers as the caravan gets
closer to Seattle.  Everyone also seems to agree that we will need to
begin organizing now if we are going to be successful.

To that end, I am forwarding two requests to our allies in the movement
to stop the WTO.

First, we will need to have funding for our caravan organizing.  We want
to hire a bilingual/bicultural organizer as soon as possible.  We need to
enhance and develop our relationships with organizations in Central and
South America.  We also need to work with local groups in west coast
cities from San Diego through Seattle.  Our staff and volunteers and
already overloaded, as is our budget.  In order to hire an organizer, we
need money--and we need it soon.  Please help us by making individual and
organizational contributions to the WTO Caravan Fund of the PA Consumer
Action Network. Checks can be mailed to 223 North Brobst St., Reading, PA
19607.  We also need leads for foundations and other major donors that
may
be willing to fund this effort.  Please email info to

Second, we need leads for a good bilingual/bicultural organizer. We will
hire as soon as we have two months of funding in place.  Salary is
negotiable.  While the position is only through the WTO Ministerium
(November 29-December 3), we will have other organizing positions after
the WTO actions that the candidate could fill. Please send info on
