Prison abuse against anarchist total objector Mehmet Tarhan
has not ended although his lawyer made it public yesterday
morning. Yesterday evening 2 of his lawyers made another
URGENT call to protest ongoing threats and assaults of
prison administration and fascist prisoners against him.

Urgent call of Mehmet Tarhan'a lawyers:
TO THE PRESS AND THE PUBLIC OPINION-URGENT CALL!

We have applied to the courts about the situation in
Sivas Military Prison and underlined clearly that the
inmates’ lives are at risk there.


Despite all our efforts the instituition that is
supposed to be responsible for the safety of the
people it has put under arrest is still not taking any
real measures.

At  14.30 today when Mehmet Tarhan and Ali –another
inmate -were out in the yard  pieces of concrete were
thrown over the wall that seperates the yard prisoners
and previous attackers of Mehmet,  Ertan Mertoglu and
others use.

Mehmet Tarhan tried to contact the prison’s commander
Leutenant Erhan Nar but instead staff sergeant Mustafa
Selvi whose name  was involved in the events that took
place before, came along and said “I was there and I
took the pieces of concrete and threw them over
myself”.

After this event, when Mehmet Tarhan was seeing his
attorney Sanem Doganoglu, Ertan Mertoglu and Ersoy
Ozbulduk came  to door of the room and ordered Mehmet
to come near them. At which Ms.Sanem reacted and asked
the intruders who they were and what was going on. But
the two man who are being kept in prison for the
murder of  four people,walked into the room and banged
on the table threatening Mehmet again and left only
after protests from the lawyer. There was only one
security guard standing by.

Ms. Sanem Doganoglu states that prison commander
Leutenant Erhan Nar, having just heard about the
outrage came down to the place , looked angry and
perplexed and gave orders to people concerned about
taking precautions to stop such acts and also made an
official notification.

On grounds of our applications  and based on the
statements that Leutenant Erhan Nar registered the
accused are being interrogated for the last two days.

But in the prison these persons have total access to
whatever they want and go around freely terrorizing
people.

DO PEOPLE HAVE TO DIE IN THIS PRISON FOR THE
ADMINISTRATION TO TAKE MEASURES?

WE ARE WARNING ALL CONCERNED.

THE INSTITUITION AND THE PRISON ADMINISTRATION  ARE
AND WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENS
THERE.

THE THREATS AND ASSAULTS HAVE TO BE STOPPED.
