A-Infos (en) Canada, Montreal, First Action, First Victory for Solidarity Network!

Last Friday, the new Workers Solidarity Network organised and won its
first workplace action. Approximately 40 people showed up at Double Pizza,
a restaurant located on the corner of St-Denis and Ontario streets to demand
money that hadn't been paid to a former employee. The employee, an immigrant
worker, led the action. When arriving, he asked to speak with the boss, who
showed up a few minutes later to adress the situation. After the grievance
was explained and 60$ was demanded, it took only a few
seconds for the boss to rush to the cash register and gather the money! That
was about his only choice, as the restaurant was filled with members of the
Solidarity Network and pizza sales were halted.

In a burst of joy we left the pizzeria shouting "so-so-so, solidarité!". We
promised to return if other cases of abuse of employees were to happen.
"As of
today, the bosses terror regime imposed on precarious workers will no
longer be
tolerated. We are organised and are ready to use any means necessary to
defend
our rights" said Émilie Pouget, a member of the network.
