On Thursday, May 12, at 7:30pm, the Libertarian Book Club's
Anarchist Forum will present a discussion on the history and day to day
procedures of the activist group Food Not Bombs. 2005 is the 25th
Anniversary Year of Food Not Bombs. In 1980 some anti-nuclear activists in
Cambridge, MA. decided food that was being wasted could be saved and shared
either with others seeking peace, the hungry or ordinary folk in public
spaces. They believed doing this would be a model of cooperation for
increased peace and justice. Since then more than a hundred independent
volunteer groups around the world have followed their example. Members of
the NYC Food not Bombs group will tell how they bring food to people in
parks and on streets and explain how this connects to actions to end war.
After the group speaks there will be an open Q&A session.

The event will take place at the New SPACE in the Fusion Arts Museum
57 Stanton Street, Manhattan, one block south of the 2nd Ave-Houston St. F
and V subway stop.

There is no set fee for the presentation, but a contribution to aid
the LBC is suggested. If you have questions, contact the LBC /Anarchist
Forum, 212-979-8353 or e-mail:
