ARE YOU sick of being told to budget when you don't get enough money to eat?
ARE YOU fed up with telling your kids they can't have things they need or
things all their friends have because the government won't give your
family enough money to survive?

ARE YOU angry because no one ever told you you could get an EXTRA $250 on
your cheque EVERY MONTH through the "Special Diet Supplement", and now
that you finally know you can't even find a decent doctor to help you
apply?

HAVE YOU had enough of watching your friends, family, and neighbours face
grueling poverty day in and day out in the face of an intrasigent
government that would much prefer catering to its business allies over
dealing with poverty?

ON MAY 12 -- COME OUT!! BRING YOUR FRIENDS.  BRING YOUR FAMILY.  BRING
YOUR NEIGHBOURS.

OCAP, in partnership with community health centres, has been very
successful in getting people the full special diet supplement (eg.
$1000/month more for a family with 2 parents & 2 kids).  We have run 8
community clinics since March, signing up over 600 people for the
supplement.  Just through these clinics, we have forced the government to
put $1.8 Million more into the hands of poor people over the next year.
Added to this is the countless number of people who have been supported in
going to their own Doctors (we get a bare minimum of 15 direct calls daily
seeking info on the special diet.).  That being said, if we ran a clinic
every day, signing up 50 people daily for the special diet, it would take
40 years to achieve an across the board raise in the rates.  100 people
attended a recent info session at Jane-Finch to find out how to approach
their own Doctor to apply for the supplement.   Less than 20 of them even
had their own Doctors and fewer than 10 people felt they could
successfully approach their Doctor.

COME OUT ON MAY 12th.  DEMAND THAT THE $250/MO. SPECIAL DIET BE RELEASED
TO EVERYONE ON WELFARE AND ONTARIO DISABILITY.
