Our first meeting on Sunday February 13 was successful with representatives
from different organizations, students, and activists. Representatives from
Bring the Ruckus, the East Side Cafe, Anti-War on the World Coalition,
Progressive Alliance, were there discussing, and exchanging ideas.
Our next meeting will be this Sunday the 20th of February at Velocity
Cafe 2127 Lincoln Blvd, Santa Monica (3 blocks S. of Pico) We're
looking for a space that will host these meetings that is more central
in the region like Echo Park, Downtown in Los Angeles.
We will be discussing some of our plans in the meeting, like flyering
the garment (sweat shop) district in Downtown L.A., and the Freedom
Uprising festival - (and having some of our contact info). We will
also discuss our points of unity, and whether we should add to the
points anti-authoritarianism and opposing the vanguard structure which
was brought up at our last meeting. Be part of the debate!
Here's our statement, and some plans that we have:
Draft Mission Statement
The Los Angeles Collective Society Network
We believe that by union and solidarity, we can achieve a
fundamental change.
This is why students, workers, and activists are coming together to
fight against capitalism which is the cause of all the misery here
and around the world affecting humanity.
One of the important things for us to achieve a better society is to
organize ourselves, and take direct action.
In order for action and organization to be effective we need to have
autonomy, union, direct democracy, a collective vision, and co-operation
amongst ourselves.
If you think you can have a better life than the one you're offered
you can join the movement.
