like all listserv providers, riseup.net http://lists.riseup.net offers
message archives and list subscription setting options like daily DIGEST &
NO MAIL/read on web only. DIGEST combines all the previous day's message
posts into one daily message.
on riseup (using Sympa) there's also a unique listserv "index" option
called SUMMARY setting (a daily message listing only the SENDER, SUBJECT &
DATE of all message the previous day, plus a url link to each message body
in case you want to actually read something). manage your list settings at:
http://lists.riseup.net/www/which
(summary setting's super low volume allows many subscriptions by users with
a single free hotmail or webmail account: this way one can still avoid
switching to NO MAIL and losing touch. like, who actually reads list
archives regularly? also, both SUMMARY and DIGEST settings organize long
discussion threads and make it easier to delete messages and clean a
webmail IN box. on lists with usually only one or two messages per day
anyway, neither setting helps but rather only delays your mail.)
you can also request a password reminder or change your password to
something you'll remember at:
http://lists.riseup.net/www/pref// or riseup.net http://lists.riseup.net
recall that it's suggested we avoid using important passwords for listservs
because reminders are sent over open mail.
riseup is volunteer-run and entirely donation-financed. please pay or work
for what you consume.

* "Who We Are?" - http://help.riseup.net/rcc/
The Red Cursor Collective is an autonomous body based in Seattle with
collective members world wide. Our purpose is to aid in the creation of a
free society, a world with freedom from want and freedom of expression,
a world without oppression or hierarchy, where power is shared equally.
We do this by providing communication and computer resources to allies
engaged in struggles against capitalism and other forms of oppression.
* We value, support, and engage in struggles for human liberation, the
ethical treatment of animals, and ecological sustainability. We join in the
fight for freedom and the self-determination of all oppressed groups. We
oppose all forms of prejudice, authoritarianism, and vanguardism.
* We organize on the basis of automony, mutual aid, resource sharing,
participatory knowledge, social advocacy, anti-oppression work,
community creation, and secure communication.
* We work to create revolution and a free society in the here and now
by building alternative communication infrastructure designed to oppose
and replace the dominant system.
* We promote social ownership and democratic control over
information, ideas, technology, and the means of communication.
* We empower organizations and individuals to use technology in
struggles for liberation. We work to support each other in overcoming the
systemic oppression embedded in the use and development of
technology.
