(en) Colombia, ULET-AIT: Announcement of our first Congress - 2024 (ca, de, it, pt, tr)[machine translation]

Date Mon, 18 Mar 2024 10:53:06 +0200

Last January, the Libertarian Student and Labor Union (ULET), affiliated with the International Workers Association (AIT-IWA), held its first National Congress with the participation of unions from Huila, Cundinamarca, and welcoming colleagues from Cauca. ----- The fundamental purpose of our congress was to address the needs of the territories, communities and students belonging to the working class in our region. We seek to discuss and plan concrete actions to dignify and recover the rights that have been usurped by the State, capital and the country's political and economic elites.

Likewise, the Congress gave us the opportunity to reaffirm the importance of the organization of the working class in the face of a hostile reality. In this context, we highlight that the principles of anarcho-syndicalism in our region, together with the internationalism that characterizes us, are fundamental tools for workers. We emphasize the need to strengthen unity as a means to achieve success in the workplace and in students, especially in the face of new government measures. It is crucial to take a critical look at this scenario.

On the other hand, we want to emphasize that the unions federated in the ULET-AIT will find a space to combat capital. Although we recognize that there is no exterior to capitalism, there is a world here and now that refuses to disappear in each of us. We are committed to the solidarity economy and cooperative public policy with the aim of enhancing the capacity to produce community education.

Our National Congress represents a firm step towards the consolidation of the fight for the rights of the working class and students. We reaffirm our commitment to active resistance and the construction of alternatives that promote social justice and dignity for all.

For a combative and supportive ULET-AIT!

For a Latin American anarcho-syndicalism that grows to the size of our dreams.

One always imagines oneself in community, but community does not arrive until one imagines oneself in communion.
