(en) France, UCL Toulouse: March 8, 2024 - Faced with attacks from the government, the right and extreme right: everyone on feminist strike! Demonstration 2 p.m. Capitol (ca, de, fr, it, pt, tr)[machine translation]
Date
Mon, 18 Mar 2024 10:47:11 +0200
In Toulouse the unit meeting is at 2 p.m. Place du Capitole. ---- March
8 is the International Day of Women's Struggles and, for the first time,
a broad inter-union call to strike further anchors feminist issues in
union concerns. ---- Exploited at home and in businesses, we will go on
strike this March 8 ---- Underpaid, discredited, precarious, and highly
arduous (often little recognized), our jobs are nevertheless essential
to society. Low salaries are even more penalizing because they lead to a
significant delay in retirement, worsened by the 2023 pension reform.
Poverty particularly affects those of us who are undocumented, trans,
racialized, single, disabled, lesbian and intersex mothers... It makes
us more dependent on a father, a husband, a harassing, aggressor, killer
boss. Pay equality and the revaluation of so-called feminized sectors
are feminist emergencies.
Exploitation does not stop at the door of the house. Reproductive work
weighs heavily on our shoulders: domestic tasks and care activities are
all work necessary for the functioning of society, leading to mental
burden and distance from the public sphere for the benefit of men,
bosses and the State. Through the strike, let's show that the world does
not go on without us!
Siamo tutte antifascist
We are currently living in a reactionary period, where fascism and
racism abound. The Immigration Law, the consequences of which will be
terrible for immigrant populations and particularly women, is the
perfect example. Masculinist ideas remain strongly established and even
increase among the youngest. The attacks against the women of Mayotte
(closure of maternity wards, sterilization policy, suppression of land
rights, etc.) go hand in hand with the promotion at the highest levels
of the State of the heteronormative model.
Through the use of the term "demographic re-armament", Macron has
returned women to their reproductive function but not only: the
government states between the lines that it is necessary to both limit
immigration and support the reproduction of women white and French
heterosexual families. These reactionary offensives also target all
those who deviate from the patriarchal model: trans people, lesbians...
Every attack against one of us is an attack against us all. Our defense
is united and collective.
Against all wars
Rape, destruction of health systems, forced displacement, etc., women
and children are the first victims of wars. Whether it is the
Palestinian women under Israeli bombs, the Iranian women against the
dictatorship or the women of Rojava for a revolutionary society, here or
elsewhere, we are fighting for life and freedom. We denounce all war
crimes and war rapes, regardless of the executioners. The struggles of
some fuel those of others.
We are campaigning for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, the release of
hundreds of Israeli hostages and all Palestinians illegally detained and
tortured in Israeli prisons. Our sisterhood crosses borders.
Our feminism is libertarian, our struggle is anti-fascist,
internationalist and anti-capitalist
Like the Argentine feminists in struggle, we say: "We are striking. We
put into practice the world we want to live in.»
Our immediate demands:
Equal pay; against the 28.5% less wages that we are imposed on and our
pensions 40% lower than those of men;
the sharing of working time through its general decline;
funding at the necessary and sustainable level for family planning
centers and associations supporting women victims of violence;
accessible, free and free abortion as well as assisted reproduction for all;
access to free, free and unconditional transition pathways;
the regularization of all.
Find here the united call for the feminist strike of which UCL is a
signatory.
